does this happen to your door panels as well? my door panels are marred and gashed everywhere around the door handle that you use to close the door. i bought the car with 35% tint and even the back doors that receive little traffic is tearing apart. about how much is the labor portion to replace the dash?

Mine is unsightly, not non functional, so if it takes weeks or months for the dash to come I don't mind at all. Also my car has been in florida almost since day one and my dash is still perfect, not sticky or has any oddities 4 years later, so I'm a lil upset that the damage happened. I think part of it not having issues was the full tint on front windshield. Will be putting it back on the moment the new "LEXUS" is in this weekend.

WE bought our grandson a 2003 IS300 and the dash is sticky and looks awful. I carryed to Lexus but they said they wouldn't fix it. So now in process of dealing with the people at the 800 number. This has got to be
a defected product. I have owned 3 Lexus before this one and have never
had this problem out of any car I have owned. If Lexus don't step up and
fixed this I will never buy Lexus or Toyto again. To many people having problems for it not to be a defect.

Mine isn't a warranty repair though glass company messed mine up, i would rather keep the dash in there as there are zero rattles in my car, and i'm afraid it will introduce new ones.

Default Sticky Dashboard

Definitely not an isolated problem, nor is it just an IS problem. I have a 2007 ES350 that I've had to replace the dashboard on. Now I'm worried about the new dash going bad. I use the shade and don't use anything but water with just a couple of drops of soap.

I've read so much about sticky dashboards on here that it has to be a manufacture's problem. It's also a driving problem when in strong sunlight as the sheen from the melting dash reflects up and makes it difficult to see the road.

You got a GOOD price though. Everyone else can expect to pay $550+ for labor alone

New to this forum. Thanks everyone for posting about their experiences with the sticky, melting dash. I'm having the same issue and have been round and round with corporate and the nearest dealership. I bought my IS250 used with 22k miles from a Toyota dealership. I guess since I didn't buy it from Lexus is the reason I'm getting the royal flush treatment. The condition of my dash is so bad that its now a gelatinous pool of goop and the glare reflecting on the windshield is impairing full view of the road. I have even filed a complaint with the NHTSA . My IS is not garage kept but I use a sunshade with a metallic deflector (now know that wasn't good for my compass) but can't now because the sunshade gets full of the goo. And I never used product nor have the detailers, to my knowledge, used product on my dash. Problem started just before 60k miles. My spouse's Tundra truck stays all day in the sun at a stinky chemical plant and his interior/exterior is pristine. Thanks to the condition of the dash I can't even get payoff if I were to attempt to trade in on a new vehicle. So disappointed with the "Lexus experience" that I may never buy a Toyota product again.

I took my 06 IS350 into the dealership today. Lexus is aware of the issue, they have to take pictures of your dash and submit it with other information to corporate. They should contact me with a decision within three days. The adviser said he's seen Lexus pay 100% to 0%, but normally it's 50% or Lexus covers the part and customer is responsible for the labor. You can be out of your warranty period and he estimated the labor being about $300. So if your experiencing this with your dash, just make an appointment at your local dealership.

I have the extended warranty and lexus covered my replacement 100% nothing out of pocket but I had to wait for corporate to approve it and then for the part to come in so about 2 weeks. For the IS300 guys though I really wouldnt think Lexus would cover anything since the cars are pretty old as this point, when they were new I cant remember anyone complaining about the dash a much as we have been. Its def. worse in florida tint and a sunshade will save you from this problem. Park in the shade as much as possible! By the way mine was done at Lexus of Tampa Bay, service advisor was Michelle.
