so on my second oil change i decided to do it myself instead of going to the dealer, i used mobil 1 full synt..i kno it is like 6.7 quarts but my friend that help me change it said 6 is enough, changed at 8k miles and now im at around 9200, my friend told me to check the oil after a couple thousand miles cuz new cars eat oil? not sure if that is true, any comments?

Put the proper amount in. If you used synthetic, consumption shouldn't be an issue if you change it regularly.

I don't understand why you don't just check the dip stick.
