Default Navigation System Help. GPS Does Not Show Correct Location

Car: 2006 Lexus IS350.

From one day to the next my GPS, does not show the correct location on the screen. The screen looks perfect and streets do to as well, but they are not in the vicinity of the actual location to where I am at. It is maybe off by 10-15 miles.

Everything else works fine, including the touch screen. Will post video of it tomorrow.

I want to take in to the dealership, but my car just finished getting out of manufacturer warranty.

I tried searching for resetting or restarting the navigation here on CL, but only found the method for GS models.

Anyone have any suggestions?

There was a Technical Service Bulletin for that. Maybe you can sweet talk them into doing it for you, even though you are out of warranty, given that it may be a costly repair, and should have been taken care of by now?

I'm like 90% sure the "fix" in the TSIB was updated GPS firmware, which you'd get with any newer map disc.... but yeah I'd try and talk the dealer into doing it free, whatcha got to lose?

The bad news is you lose the software override that only the 06s had.

Thanks a lot. Well see if the Christmas and birthday card for my
service writer worked.

This happened to me a couple years back. Initially they told me that the satellites were probably out (yeah right), but when I mentioned the TSIB, they all of a sudden changed their tune and had me bring the car in. They replaced the navigation DVD. Haven't had a problem since.

Replaced the DVD with the 9.1 and the same thing is happening. It still is showing me totally in a different city.

Any ideas of what's going wrong.

And I never hacked the Nav or anything.

^ Hmmm, that's very strange. Like others were saying there was a TSIB out for the 2006 2IS, but installing a new map DVD should have cleared the problem up. Maybe ask the dealer?

It fixed on itself last night. I turned my car on today and it works.

^ Good to hear. I seem to vaguely recall that you can recalibrate your GPS - check your owner's manual.

Wow, you are really in luck, I was starting to wonder what a dealer would charge to fix an issue like this.

Having the same issue on my 06 250. Location is off by 40-50 miles. Dealer just replaced the airbag harness and Navi was off since then. They also scratched my dashboard to hell and didn't even put it back together correctly. Anyways I have an appointment tomm and my car is under Lexus warranty until Oct 2017. I purchased Lexus care again 2 years ago. Its already paid for itself.

Default Gx460 gps problem

My 2014 GX460 lately has been encountering the same issue. I have found that disconnecting the negative cable for 30 seconds and then reconnecting it allows the GPS to reload. It is not a permanent fix as it may last for 5 hours of driving.
