Thats an Alien 964X Type R Tracking device very commonly used in the U.S. F.B.I. The F.B.I. uses these "bugs" to keep tabs on various malicious and illegal activity. Upon removal a red alert is flagged to the F.B.I. You should be expecting men in suits real soon good luck.

This is a sticker placed there by your dealer, which is likely a nice and up-to-date facility. When you pull into their service dropoff, they'll have some sort of unit that reads this sensor/sticker. It will notify them and/or your specific service advisor that you are there. ALso a means to keep track of when you come in to the dealership.

I noticed one long ago and it boggled my mind. I figured it had to be from dealer because i just happened to notice one day when i know it had never been there previously. My dealership confirmed this.

So, if you're like me and think it' ugly or simply dont want to give into the man..then you can take it off. They might put on a new one when you're car is in the shop but why not spend some of their money on repeated sensors

Past my warranty I'd never go to dealer anyway so it's gone for good.

That's a pretty good idea...I think it works like the fastrak sensor here in so cal. Next time you take ur car to lexus pay attention to the ceiling of the service center they most likely going to have a scanner of some sort.

Park Place Lexus in Plano Tx. at least i used to when my IS was still under warranty.

Sure it's a nice place but it's not complicated process really. Any business with a few bucks could do it. It's like....a tolltag type of technology haha

Ha yeah that's where I go. My car is in for service today so I'll see if there's another one of these on my mirror when I pick the car up today or tomorrow.

I have seen this at a Merc dealer...high tech service department...Merc used smaller tags on the side view mirror

They use this to smooth the process out when you arrive, Patrick323 is right...my dealership is looking into this system...

don't they ask you first before tagging something on your car?

nor me

It's not like they can 'track you ' or even if they could it's not like they have any interest.

It's just..unsightly.

If they put on a new one. Take it off but leave it in tact. Then put it back on when you go back.
