Hello all, my oil change light came on about 100 miles ago and I am at about 9k miles. I have already done the 5k service at the dealer but want to get my oil change elsewhere with synthetic oil and a oil filter i bring in myself.

1. What is the name of the best Synthetic oil for Lexus is250 and how many quarts should I buy?

2. What is the best type of oil filter and does anyone know the part#?

Mobil 1, Castrol, royal purple. I believe 6.8 qt

oil filter - if you want oem buy from your local dealership, sewell lexus is one of our vendor on here.

Amsoil would be my suggestion- Only one I'm aware of that actually guarantees the engine when doing long OCIs.

I suggest Mobil one 0w-30 synthetic racing oil or mobil one 0w-30 synthetic advanced fuel economy with the bright green cap.

Any synthetic will give a 10K mile safe OCI. If you plan on one year OCIs I would recommend Amsoil 0w-30.

just get whatever is on sale. check autoparts store ads for good deals...i just scored 8 quarts of valvoline synthetic for 5 bucks after rebate.

Yeah any synthetic will get you 10,000miles just fine. That's the interval I run at and I have absolutely no engine problems whatsoever. Of course if you want to do 5000 or 7500 intervals, that's completely up to you. I usually run mobil 1 synthetic but i'll be switching to amsoil once i find a place that carries it around here.

Filter wise, I just grab it from my local dealer. They're about $7
