Default 2007 is250 touch screen inoperable

Phone Lexus of NA and was told that although there are not recalls for this problem, a service bulletin or recall, can be put into effect. However, this would depend on the number of cases being reported. So, even if your car is out of warranty, like ours is, it is imperative that these sort of things be brought to Lexus' attention.

In addition, if there is a problem with the console, and you are out of warrantly, you can request through Lexus Corp, some good-will assistance. This could lessen the cost of repairs.

Still, will try to unplug the battery and hope that fixes it.

Does the unit power on at all, but you just lost usage of the touch-function of the screen? If so, read this :

Default Update on defective console!

Took car into dealer last night. Initial estimate of $3000!!!

Phoned Lexus at 800-255-3987 to request financial assistance. Our car is an '07 with less than 80K miles...just outside the extended warranty we bought through GEICO. :/

We dropped it off at Putnam Lexus. Service advisor stated that they are seeing this problems more common in '06-'08 models. If you're having issues with your touch screen, contact Lexus to make them aware of this common problem.

It powers on, we unplugged the battery but it does not work. We cannot control the fan or get past the initial screen.

Default Repair of <$100...How so?

They did a hard reboot and were going to charge $195. It did not work but they (the dealer) did not charge us.

Instead $3000 is for a refurbished touch screen and up to $8K for a new one. Crazy and not okay for a car with less than 80K miles on it!

Not a happy Lexus customer! Waiting to hear back from the Lexus case manager.

There is a DYI on how to fix the touch screen, you should be able to search it. Not to hard of a fix.

Don't waste your time at the dealership, they'll fleece your wallet. This can be fixed for less than $100 (DIY, or perhaps pay someone to do it for you, however, be careful, I've read about shady ebay guys that use cheap digitizers that turn yellow)...anyway, if it's DIY, you just need some tools and about 3-4 hours. I finally fixed mine 2 weeks ago. It wasn't too bad at all!
