NOT TRUE. I hydrolocked 1998 Civic. You can spray water mist with sprayer if you are careful. The risk is hydrolocking the engine. Not worth it. You are damaging the piston. You could hydrlock with seafoam but that hasn't happened in my case. You can't compress water. You can compress oil, however. Luckily, nothing happened to the civic engine. I let it sit overnight and let water drain into oil pan. I changed oil the next day.

Whaaaaa??? ^^^ Too much of anything is a bad thing. And oil in sufficient quantity will also hydrolock an engine as it does not compress.

Bottom line is years of accumulation can not be undone in one tank of gas or can of gue.

That said there is this product made just for top end cleaning.

My coworker showed me his damaged valve removed from his engine. He hydrolocked it with seafoam. What product is it for top cleaning?

Lets be clear here; Any hard part mechanical damage from SF is from user error over dosing in that case.

That said this doesn't add up. You don't bend valves from hydrolock. You bend the rod, crack pistons, damage the crank and/or block.

Follow the link; yamaha ring free is the product. It works well so I'm told. Never used it personally. It's a tad spendy but few complaints for not being effective. Again; dont OD...
