Default Testing Out 3m CF vinyl! Pix/ vid

Ok so a week ago i ordered a 3m Carbon Fiver vinyl sample. I was going to play with it on a random thing just to see how hard it is to use. But then i figured, Why waist it?? So i started looking at my car trying to figure out what to use the 3m vinyl on. Its a mall 3x8 sample so choices were limited.

At the end i decided to wrap the small part of the door handles. You know the part that covers the were the key goes.

So here are some pix and im editing a video right now.

First let me say that this vinyl look completely different in person. Not one video or picture i saw online really depicted the texture and look of it. It looks sort of like cloth... like hundredths of strings woven together and it feels like it too. Here this pictures IMO perfectly shows the texture better than anything else online.

These are all the tools needed. Except for that thing. Thats just the cover for my camera.

Here are pictures of it finished and back on the car. Sure for now it looks out of place but i will be ordering more to wrap the entire door handle, and the roof. Don't mind the other pictures, just focus on this first one to see how good it/will look.

As you can see in the picture and from the left over wrap (see video) i might not have enough to wrap the parts on the rear doors.. But ill try. Sense they are not removable ill have to wait until tomorrow when the rain calms down.

HERE IS THE VIDEO! For some reason it wond embed so heres the link.

Looks good! I'm not a fan of chrome door handle mods/updrages so this might be a good alternative for me (I'd do black not CF tho, just personal preference). Looks good tho!

The wrap looks nice. Maybe you should get more and wrap the interior? Just a suggestion.

Thank you guys.

I just can't say it looks like CF. But it has a look of its own. I will be using it for its own look, not as a CF look alike.

I want to wrap the wood trim but the wife don't agree.. But she DID suggest wrapping the dash.. I am considering it but not sure if the 3m stuff will stick to it.

BTW. Just finished the video. Im processing it and uploading it.

HAHA! Well unfortunately my idea of wrapping the entire car is out for now... wife wont approve

But like i mentioned, shes ok with wrapping the Dash board..

I wonder if this stuff will stick the dash board and what problems will it present in case my passenger ever needs the airbags to work

you'd probably need to cut the vinyl to follow the lines of the airbag cover. Although, those airbags are like a gun in a pillow so I doubt your wrap would stop it much. It would just ruin the dash I guess.

I just don't get it. With Civics you have to pay more to get paint matching parts, but we have lexus drivers ricing out their cars by wrapping with fake carbon? Am I missing something?

I was thinking the same thing just didn't want to be the first to come out and say it... But if I was to wrap something I'd wrap something that was already black, like the black door parts by the window or something.

Yes you are. The part were i stated that i dont care for the CF look. I care for the 3M specific look. This is not an attemp by me to make people think its CF. This is me and the fact that i LIKE how this material looks in its own merril.
