38 offset on that 20 x 10 will make you flush with the rear fender. 35 will make you flush and require no fender or liner mods in the front. i am at 31 due to a 36 front offset and now 5mm spacer. I get slight rub on the fronts but its just barely touching.

Its all preference from here on streched tires or not. you can search my post on my rims that are 19" but it will give you an idea of what it will look like.

I wonder if I go with 20x8.5 and 20x10 both with +35, and lowered 1", will it rub?

i think you will be fine on the rear, will be close. the major thing is that it will stick out farther then the front. if they have that set up then i would go with it! You can make the rest work from there. You are better to get coilovers then springs, i learned the hard way with my aggressive offset. Others put mine to shame but i do get some slight rub in the rear drive side only and may change to coilovers to balance out the car and lower it more in the front.

ok... let me try to explain.

+18 offset will make your tires stick out at stock height, only way to make it flush is slamming the car, therefor the camber will cause the top of the tires to tuck in. rolling fenders or not will depend on the tire size, BIG tire look or VIP stretch.

+30's offset is good for a mild drop

+45s offset is good if your gonna go with the big tire look, 275's so that way you wont have to roll fenders.

offsets/tiresize/ammount of drop/rolling fenders or not, are all interconnected if you want the flush look. very very complicated when your trying to explain on the internet. your best bet is to goto a CL meet in your area first, see the cars there and ask the owners cuz... we all love talking about our cars

Here is what I did just to help you have a visual aid to go with your offsets.
Because i went so wide in the rear i did have to roll my fender a little because it was just barely rubbing..

19-8.5 in front with 235-35-19 nitto 555 45 offset
20-10 in rear with 275-30-20 nitto 555 40 offset

offset only has to do with width of the rim. a 19" rim goes from 7 to ridiculous inches wide. Im not sure how much the camber changes on the IS when you lower it but it shouldnt be anything crazy to play a huge role in deciding what offset. brake, strut, and fender are the major issues. i think it was tirerack that has a good pic on the trouble areas. check this link out to get a good idea of the trade off between width and et.

thing is, it also depends on your tire size/rim width/do you want to roll the fenders or not. Stech's drop 1.6/1.2in and... i know VIP stretch stuff while ppl here go for the big tire look. So... if your considering the big tire look, im not the guy to ask as i have no xp nor know anyone here with the big tire look. Here in hawaii its all vip style. Combfilter is who i would ask if i wanted the big tire look. But if you want vip style look then PM me.

isnt it different for all rims... depending on the rim brand you use.. since the curvature of the spokes need to be taken into consideration also?

the offset number? no.

when i find the pic itll show you why. but you are correct that ppl need to take the face pattern into their considerations to clear the brakes.

Default Offset question for 19x9.5 rear rim

I'm in the process of choosing rims for my car and had a question about the offset of the rear rim. I'm currently lowered with the Eibach Pro-Kit and the rim I'm looking at (G games 99b) only comes with +40 offset for both front and rear. Will this cause any rubbing if I run a 275/30/19 tire on the rear? Will a 265/30/19 be better? Thanks.

265 would have a lesser chance to rub when you ride over a bump or something.

dont forget so post pics!
