[Canada] Lexus IS250 Recall?
Hi, I got a letter from Lexus Canada a while ago about a future recall for the accelerator/brake/floormat.
Just wondering if anybody got any updated info about the recall, like when they're going to start doing it.
I drive an IS250 AWD btw.

I got the first letter too. Lexus Canada will be mailing a second letter in March. At which time you may schedule a service appointment. I'm not going to get mine done. You can read this thread to wonder why?

The same recall applies to both cars. Lexus mailed letters to owners.
It's the "floormat recall" where an idiot dealer installed RX floormats, without hooking them in, in an ES350, which then got stuck under the gas pedal and the driver and his family died because the driver was apparently unaware what 'neutral' does on a car.
So Lexus issues a "recall" requiring a bunch of completely unneeded steps that included at various points- shaving the padding under the carpet below the gas pedal, cutting the accelerator pedal, and, I **** you not, zip tying the floormats in place.
None of which is needed at all if you just use the correct floormats and the hooks.
Supposedly they're going to be issuing dealers replacement pedals that are pre-shortened from the mfg. in the spring so they won't have to keep cutting the stock ones at that point.
Regardless, I'm not letting em touch my pedals, carpet, or anything else since there's nothing actually wrong with any of them.
(note this is NOT the toyota gas pedal recall- that's an entirely separate issue that doesn't impact Lexus vehicles at all)
