Default PICS: Stock HIDs w/Silverstar Ultra HiBeams & Fogs and 5K V-LED Parking Lights

I remember trying to do research on CL a couple of months ago but couldn't find many pictures of people using Silverstar Ultras to match their stock HIDs. So here's my take on it, along with pics:

Setup:
Stock AFS HIDs (4100K Philips XenEco 35W OEM bulbs)
Silverstar Ultra 9006 Fog Lights
Silverstar Ultra 9005 High Beams/DRLs
V-LED "HID 5K WHITE SMT 5 LED Light"

Impressions:
I purchased both the 5K and 6K V-LED 5 SMT bulbs. The 5K's match almost perfectly, whereas the 6K's are noticeably bluer (but it looks fine). If you want a match, get the 5K's.

As you can see from the pictures, the SU Ultras don't match the HIDs all that well. The SU's are definitely whiter than the stock bulbs, but if you want perfection, definitely go with HIDs for the fogs. And when the high beams are running at low voltage (when in DRL mode) they are almost as yellow as the stock bulbs. It's only worth upgrading the high beams if you use them a lot, don't do it for the DRL color.

PS: The lights aren't nearly as blue as the pictures would lead you to believe.
PPS: It is a pain changing the bulbs on the 2IS!

I never got the whole DRL, LED, ect stuff. The DRL is the actual bulb that is also the high beam right? I got my DRLs turned off but I can still power on this little bulb as show here.

which bulb is that?

Correct - the DRL is just the high beam bulb (9005) running at a lower voltage, which is why it appears yellow. As you can see in the pictures, when at full power (acting as a high beam) it's a lot whiter. The little bulb in that picture is the parking light, also called a city light. The parking light bulb is a wedge bulb, and I swapped it for that V-LED bulb because it has a better color to it. Does that clear things up?

I replaced my high beams/drl with Sylvania 9005SU SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen Headlights and now I don't have DRL's since I guess the low voltage doesn't affect the bulb. Should I be worried that the low voltage can affect the life of the high beam?

Wait, so your DRL's don't work at all anymore? They should.

Nope. I'll check again at lunch today, but when I was running them yesterday they weren't on. All my other lights work too (parking light, hids, high beams, etc)

Are you SURE you have your DRL functionality enabled? It doesn't make any sense to me that the DRLs would work before but not after... a bulb change shouldn't affect that.

Yeah, I had it before. I asked the Lexus guys to turn of my DRL's when i got some work done over a week ago, but they said they couldn't do it because of some BS excuse about the bulbs. Unless they did do it and I just didn't notice..
