I don't feel bad for both drivers. Such a hazard to stop the car in the middle of the freeway without hazard lights flashing. Either way, both drivers are to be blamed.

You do know that the IS was hit once already before getting t-boned? Hood was up and the front left was smashed. It just didn't look bad enough to leave the car sitting there, but that's hard to say w/o knowing the whole story.

Yeah I noticed. Without knowing the story, it is hard to figure out. I guess I was assuming the driver didn't attempt to start the car since she didn't turn on the emergency lights.

Hahaha! Agreed! When the news reporter said "she", it made me laugh even more. Plus that person in that 2nd car.......you don't even hear the person slamming on the breaks until they hit the IS. Some people......I swear.

drunk driving = A night of partying too much cost that girl her car. It could have cost her, her life. Hopefully they all learned a lesson here.

Of course the irony is that using a cell phone (or texting or sleep deprivation) "impairs" a driver well beyond the "legal limit" and people do it every single day and crash with impunity. The propaganda campaign that M.A.D.D. started a couple decades back has firmly taken root. Honestly, I find the general lack of respect for road conditions from my fellow non-impaired drivers far more appalling than the the DWI statistics given that police are using random checkpoints and such to net quasi-impaired drivers. Let me add, I'm not pro-alcohol, or pro-drunk driving but I'm kind of sick of the self-righteous hand wringing.

Where the heck was the CHP?!?! How come no one is directing traffic? No road flares? And the tow truck drivers have to hook wrecked vehicles in the middle of the freeway with no uniformed officer directing traffic? No lane closures?
Holy Cow, I smell a lawsuit for sure!

The cause of both wrecks is clearly 100% the responsibility of the impaired drivers, I'm not trying to say otherwise.

What I'm not understanding is how can you conduct a field sobriety test, arrest a drunk driver, when you have not even secured the scene of the wreck and do not have traffic control in place.

I must be missing something here.
