Default purpose of "side member" cover

Hi, I found this "side member" cover plastic piece hanging off the driver rear wheel well. I just took it off. Is there an important purpose for it? Part num 57628C-Thanks

Besides those wind deflector things in front of each wheel, I would leave all of the other plastic "covers" be.

Any real reason for these front wind deflectors? I may remove these but weren't sure if they were meant to protect the underbody of the front bumper from the brunt of dmg if the car bottomed out.

Besides the purpose for what it is called, I don't see a use for them. I unbolted them or cut them off. They would just get it the way if you are lowered.

I doubt you will really notice any difference if you remove the piece. I've noticed mine hanging off on a couple of occasions. The dealer just fixed it for free both times though when I went in for an oil change so I didn't bother ripping it off.
