Removing exhaust tips?

Removing exhaust tips?
Hey guys I want to remove my stock exhaust tips to just polish them up with the polishing wheel in my garage. I was wondering if once I take them off will they stay on when I try and put them back on or will they fall off while drivng down the road? Also what is the best way to remove them without damaging them?
