Default IS250 keypad

I was in a rush to get to work this morning. Turn on the car and realize I forgot my cell phone. I'm walking towards my house from the garage and the car starts beeping reminding me I'm too far. So I take my keypad and put it on the sunroof. I run grab my phone and get in the car and pull off to work.

About 4 blocks from my house my girlfriend calls me to annoy me during my morning commute. As we are talking on the phone I hear something rolling towards the backseat of the car turn around and nothing is there so I just kept driving.

Get to work and park the car. look for the keys and realize it's not in my pocket anymore. check everything and then I thought let me try to start the car. and of course it says "KEY NOT DETECTED"

Reality hit it in and I left the keypad on the damn roof and the noise I heard while on the phone was the keypad rolling off the roof.

Sorry for the long story, but hopefully this story helps someone out there from doing the same thing.

Anyone know how much a new keypad for 07 IS250 might cost? Thank God I have a spare.

This is my first keyless entry car and what a lesson I learned today.

Just to let you know for future reference, when you walk away from your car and it beeps keep walking you'll be fine. Or better yet save yourself the trouble and just turn off your car. It might even keep some juvenile with a spur of the moment decision to hop into your car and taking it for a joyride.

But nonetheless we all make mistakes and I'm glad you had a spare

What happens if you lose the last key? Can you still pair a new key to the car? I know that with a Saab 9-3 you can't. For security reasons you need a working key to pair a new one to the car. The dealers don't have access to a "master key" to pair any new key to any car. If you lose all keys you have to replace the whole security system of the car at a cost of about $1000.

You'd better check how this works on a Lexus before you decide to drive around with only one key for an extended period.

wow $260! that is quite a bit of dough. try different dealers, maybe it might be different prices.
