I've heard that said before but I don't believe. I had an '82 Volvo 240 (new to me in '89) that I put some Mobil gas in and it was never the same. It ran like crap from the pump until I got rid of it. No Chevron's in my area so I'll be using Shell premium.

King, quicktrip = bad. Wouldn't run it. There's lots of ways to cut cost for the station owner and most of them aren't good for your vehicle.

Ummmmm...why would you say Quiktrip is bad?? Quiktrip actually guarantees their gas by stating if it ever has a problem related to the gas it's covered. Strange, I have used QuikTrip all my life in every one of my vehicles and have had nothing but good experience with it.

The price difference is not much to even consider pumping the cheapo gas. You're only saving less than $1 per tank versus brand name gas. So don't neglect the lex.

I use nothing but Chevron in all 3 of my cars, no problems, no paying for injector cleaning ever.

I use shell, Sunnaco or Exxon/Mobile...mostly sunaco due to cheaper price and good mpg

here is the result according to our trip computer on 95% similar driving habit and road
City/Hwy 50:50 avg mpg all in 93oct

bp: 19.5mpg
Shell: 23.2
Exon: 23.5
Sunaco: 22.8
Gulf: 18
Wawa: 16

i've found out that after 5000 miles of engine oil (right before oil change due), gas mileage drops 2-3mpg from normal avg mpg

Been pumping costco gas for 10k miles. No problem at all. Averaging basically the same gas mileage as pumping Chevron/Shell gas. Gas is gas, whether it is costco gas, Arco, Shell, Chevron, they are all the same and work the same.

It's all the same except for the additive pack each brand puts in, and there isn't a huge difference in that either. In areas with multiple refiners you may get Shell gas one time, Chevron the next, and Exxon after that even if you stay with one retailer. Gasoline is a commodity and has to meet tight EPA specifications. If your car runs fine on Costco or Walmart gas, use it, it just may be coming from a Chevron owned refinery. Why pay more than you have to. Top Tier gasoline is a marketing exercise according to their own website, it's there for the companies who bought into the program to use it in advertising. It's no better than non-tier gas.
