ok, so i'm not entirely sure if this is the right word or terminology but if someone could help me out or if anyone has had similar problems...

i have an 06 is250 awd

Daily, i have to back out of my driveway to get onto the street, and occasionally i'll shift down into neutral while it's still in reverse and accidently put it into drive while it is still rolling backwards (from neutral rolling backwards to drive)...usually there are no problems, but twice the following has happened - when i put it into drive the car turns off, the battery warning light turns on, engine turned off, no power steering, and it just rolls (because im on a down hill). I have to put it into park, depress the break pedal and turn on the car again and it's fine...

has anyone else experienced this problem?...

haha your totaly fine. i had this happen a ton in my truck when we were doin donuts and what not. donuts in the rain FTW! its a fail safe so the gears dont grind and f*** any thing up. from what i expierenced after the stall. it just went back to normal. my 2cents.

That happened to me with my last car, you cant throw it into drive when you're still reversing too quickly. I keep it safe and just stop completely before throwing it into drive.

Have you thought about NOT putting it in drive while it's still rolling backwards? This is common sense...
