Default How long does the Key Fob battery last?

I've had my car for 2 years now and I drive it almost everyday, I've put on 32k miles in 2 years. How long does the battery usually last? I've heard the car will warn you once the battery is low, is this true?

Yeah, the visual display between the gauges will let you know the battery is low, and mine lasted about 3 years (34k miles). Both my primary and backup went at the same time, so use isn't really a factor.

so does the dealer jus replace the battery once it goes out? Or is a whole new Key Fob required?

uhmm...no. Just the battery. It's easy, just take out the physical key from the fob and use it to pry open.

Yeah, just requires a change of battery. I ran into a local radio shack to buy replacements, and it tells you how to replace the battery in the manual.

Exactly the same... About 34k (3 years) both my fobs are out. The Warning Signal came on yesterday.. Thought at least my spare will last longer but nope..

First one lasted only 2.5 months. It's replacement lasted nearly 3 years. Third one still going strong after six months.

Bought mine used, so not sure how long mine lasted, I'm going to assume that the original owner never replaced it, but mine is a 2006 model. It was really easy to replace, but my local Radio Shack had a hard time finding the battery (although he finally found one in stock in the back store room).

Mine too lasted 3 years (44k), on both remotes. I went the Radioshack route and replaced the batteries myself, its quite easy to be honest.

i'm just wearing mine out (notice on the instrument panel driving me nuts) 35K miles. purchased in aug. 2006. never use the buttons, and switch them every month.

PLUS the JDM fob cases make the batts last longer, more here:

Hey guys, I notice this is a little old thread but I thought I add my 2cents and stuff.. Well my fob key battery is probably dying on me again, Ive replaced it a few times already. I bought my vehicle 2006 new baby. Yeah 13yrs, crazy how long I actually kept this thing. Thy longestt I ever kepted a car. anyways this battery I bought from O reillys back in 10/2017 but its alerted me today it couldnt detect my keys and I had some issues trying to lock it and stuff. So its roughly 17months. I notice a lot of people going pass 2yrs, and some even 3yrs+?? wow. What am I doing wrong? I mean 17months is pretty good, it just a 5$ battery but still...A friend of mine said I should keep it away from my cell phone too cause it messes up the battery? is that even the slightest true? But I dont think I keep them together in my pants anyways. I use energizer if that means anything. Maybe I should use a different brand? or maybe buy a more recent battery, maybe my battery was just old but new. If you know what I mean... -_-. I dont even drive my baby that much. Only 62k miles on it and its a 2006......Also lately I notice peoples headlights are freaking bright as fk. Anyone know a good upgrade for our old car that wont burn a hole in my wallet. I neeeed to return the blinding feeling....
