Switched over to 0W30. Didn't really notice a difference (like I expected) except for the fact that start up after the car has been sitting overnight seems to be smoother now then when i was running 5w30. I'll probably stick to 0w30 just for that
I think a smoother start-up should be the only difference between 5w and 0w. I guess I'll switch over to 0w next change, since it probably minimizes engine wear on start-up.
I requested the Toyota service guy to use 5w-20 (because that's the newest recommendation from Lexus), and he said that's the only kind they have, even though they put 5w-30 on my sticker. For all I know, they could've put 10w-40 in it, and I'd never be the wiser. Unless you provide your own oil (in cans to be returned empty), you can't know for sure what they use.
I would be very hesitant about running thin oils w/high NOACK and SAPS numbers in a 250. I've gone to a Euro 5w40 oil bc of controlling oil vaporization.
