Default Molded Wald Spoiler Owners

I have a Wald trunk spoiler and I've been to three paint and body shops so far about getting it molded, painted, and installed. One of the shops warned me that if they mold it to the trunk, it may crack after "some time" later. The other two shops said they won't even take the job for that very reason. Have any owners heard this before or had any trouble with their molded Wald spoilers?

Thanks.

What does that mean? What did he do that's different from the other shops?

$900.00 including a few other things I would be getting done at the same time. Not sure what the quote would be for the spoiler alone.

Not as much as I thought. They're painting the whole trunk over again right? Just wondering how much it would cost for me. I want it molded + to fill in my holes from debadge.

It's obvious, if the shop you went to said it was going to crack, then they don't know how to do it. My guy never said one thing and just did it.

Yea, they were gonna paint the whole trunk, cause they were gonna debadge and fill the holes on mine too.

Ok, so are you going to share how to "do it", or is it a secret?

I don't know the exact steps or what was used, I just saw it LOL sorry. But if the body shop is going to do it I'm sure they should know what to use.

actually 900 is not that bad
if they know what they are doing, it shouldn't crack
it took my shop two days to do it, but I know it normally takes a little longer
my guy happened to be free that week so I had him work on it two days straight non-stop
I know I got a price quote for around 650~1200 from four different shop
but I ended up getting an amazing deal hehehe

with molding you always have a possibility of it cracking because it is bondo or fiberglass.a THIN layer of bondo or fiberglass so everything would be even and smooth...any body shop guy would know that...i know guys that do body work...ive known people who molded their kits to the body itself and had it crack through time because of vibration and bumps...but as far as the trunk area i think it wouldnt be as bad because it's high up on the car and wind flows right over top of it...

^slamming your trunk when closing can definitely cause cracking in the long run
but then it's cool now because it goes down slowly (as if it is automatic) due to extra weight lol
