Default Contemplating a CPO 2006 IS350

Hey guys,

The wife and I are looking to trade in our IS250 AWD for the 350 and I ran across a 2006 IS350 CPO with 20K, luxury pkg, NAV, Mark Levinson, Black with grey leather. I can pick it up for $28500 and they will give me $20K for my car.

What do you all think, is it a good deal or should I try to scoop up a 2007 non CPO 350?

I am looking to pick something up in the next week or so.

Thanks in advance,

Brandon

Anyone?

Just trying to gather some feedback as it seems the IS350 are priced all over the board.

2006 CPO... means the warranty is up in 2012 or 100k miles right??? if thats the case... paying 8.5k aftrer the trade +tax and so on... is a good deal..

ace,
you are correct. CPO warranty is 100K or 3 years which ever comes first. If they give me $20K for my 2006, to me its seems decent although some 2007 IS350's in my area are going for just over $30K.

At what point does it make more sense to move up a model year versus saving a few grand? Thats the tough part....... Lets say I find a comaprable 2007 for $31000, is it better to save $2500 and buy the 2006 or move up to the 2007? hmmmm

Buy a used IS-F with low miles for 45k..........with trade you would be financing 25 k and your payments would be nothing

I picked up an 06, every option except ML for 23,400. 30k miles, dealer service every 5k miles. It was a trade in at an audi dealer.

It almost certainly didn't have every option.

This is slowly becoming a pet peeve of mine, but people keep insisting cars are "fully loaded" when they've got like 1/2 the possible options for the car.

It'd be bizarre beyond belief to find a car that lacked ML but had, for example, PCS (since PCS is extremely rare and expensive option wise)

You still got the car for a good price though

I agree, 'fully loaded' is incorrectly used daily by most car sellers, things such as bluetooth, cooled seats, power seats constitute as fully loaded in their minds. Lol, some sellers even put 'power brakes, power windows, power door locks' Drove me nuts! haha

Thanks guys,

The IS-F is out of the question.....I want my payment to go down not up

anyway, the going trade in for my 06 IS250AWD seems to be around $20k based on edmunds and etc, which is not too bad I guess.

As for the 350, I really wanted to spend no more than $28K for a 2006 with nav, ML, and luxury pkg so I may wait for an 07.......decision decisions. I do see random 07's with almost every feature I want or just the wrong color combo for around $30K so that makes me think $28500 for an 06 is still a bit high.

I bought an 06 CPO blk/blk 350 with 19k miles for just over $29K exactly one year ago. It was indeed "fully loaded" except for the radar cruise control & headlight washers. It has Lux Pkg, Nav, ML, PA, & XM. However, I did have to fly over 900 miles and drive it back from the Lexus dealership in Indianapolis back to Dallas. It was well worth it though. I was dead set on a black OR white on black leather car, Sport or Luxury Package, with the Levinson system and low miles. The car also had brand new Pilot Sports on the stock 18's! Also, when I noticed a small door ding, they brought their local dentless guy and fixed it for me on the spot. The Lexus CPO program took care of me.

With the economy and car dealers struggling, you should be able to find a better deal than $28,500. That's high for an 06 in 2009. Granted, I did get a pretty good deal at the time. If I were you, I would haggle more or continue looking.

Here's a tip. I would make certain that the car you are interested in has all the factory paint. In other words, make sure the car has no paintwork done. Call me ****, but I wasn't going to buy with any painting done to the car as a result of an accident.

Continue looking for a better deal. There are plenty of cars out there. I think I just read yesterday that Toyota just had their biggest loss in 72 years. Manufacturers don't get any more desperate to sell cars than right now.

Good luck.

Check out my thread I started when I bought my car a year ago.

STK

Thanks for the info. I agree, I am going to continue looking unless that dealer comes down in price. If you paid $29K a year ago, I should be able to pick up a 07 for $30K or less.

Thanks!

Brandon

i will keep everyone posted to what happens

One aspect I never mentioned from my first post was what my local dealer has been doing for me. They are going to the lexus auctions looking for a 2007 350 with the features & colors I am looking for although they have been searching for about 2 months now with no luck yet. The CPO used car manager at this lexus dealer states he should be able to find a 07 350 with nav, ML, & luxury pkg car, certify it, and sell it to me for $30-$31K. Does this sound feasible and anyone have any insider info how these auctions work?

Supposedly he is sending his buyer to an auction in TN this Wednesday hoping to have better luck down there than up here in WI. I would imagaine there are more RWD 350's farther south considering most Is's in WI are 250 AWD's.

Thanks again guys!

That's a standard industry practice. A lot of cars from auctions are from lease returns. Dealers purchase many of their used cars in this manner. No sweat. Just make sure the vehicle's Carfax is in order and the car has not been in any accidents or consequently have any paintwork done.

Also, just b/c a car has a clean Carfax does not mean that it has not been in an accident. It just means that the accident wasn't reported. I would just make certain the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected and is what you want.
