Lexus needs a entry level car or else everyone will buy a 328i, TL, A4, g35 Sedan instead. They are all ranged around 35k same with the IS250.

I just hate the fact how everyone under estimate the IS350 because they get my car confused with the 250. My friends always think the 350 is slow because they have dusted 250 in their ricer.

Yeah but our cars handles like ***.. I consider the IS250 a luxury sedan and the IS350 as a Sport/Luxury Sedan.

Maybe the handling is not like a sports car but thats why its a Luxury/sport and not just sport. Strut bars and coils should help with handling a lot. I did not like how he compared the 250 to Camrys, Avalons, Accords, and Altimas....I would drive a 250 over all those all day everyday.

my point is all those cars are actually faster in a straight line, and those are hardly considered "sports sedans."

and please spare me, the 2is is in a no way shape or form a canyon carver...

the 250 should have been a toyota or a scion or something.....

All of which are FWD and handle considerably -worse- than a RWD 250 does in the hands of a competent driver

I think that's a bit of a stretch to make a blanket statement like that.

There are certainly some advantages for the IS on paper, but I wouldn't rule out Honda chasis tuning for one, and after seeing Jason Plato's Epic BTCC Sliding Save last week, I don't doubt FWD has some of its own advantages.

I'm discussing the cars as they come from the factory (and I've driven all the cars in question FYI).

GENERALLY speaking though FWD is significantly inferior to RWD for handling.

Lack of torque steer, better vehicle balance, and not steering with the drive wheels, are all pretty substantial advantages to RWD.

Even honda knows this and uses RWD in the one actual "sports" car they sell- the S2000.

Really? Like ***? Actually, the 2IS is a very capable and competent sedan. I can think of no other car in the world that can strike a better balance of luxury and sport. What other sedan goes down the road in such luxury and quietness that handles better than the IS? Please don't say 3. 3's aren't nearly as quiet, refined, or luxurious as the IS.
Now, a Buick Lucerne handles like ***.

I think to compare a 3 series to a IS is like comparing apples to oranges. Different cars built for different purposes. It's the same reason it's difficult to compare a G to an IS. I want the benefits that both cars have to offer!

Ha I didnt say the 2IS is a canyon carver???? I said the Miata was. I was just making the point that a car does not have to be fast in to be sports car. The 250 is a Sports/Luxury not a pure sports car. The 250 is a very Luxurious and nice car, it deserves to be a Lexus...not no dam Scion...

i would say test drive both cars and see what deals you can get from them.. Then Pick from those two. If anything i would wait for the 370z which will have a plethora of mods available. and lighter than the g37.

Default G37S owner here

I have a 2011 G37S sedan. I know this thread is old but In case someone is looking at this generation of Infiniti G vs IS350. I will say, the G has been very reliable (90k mile so far), fast and a good value. However certain years have a oil timing gallery issue that is major bucks to fix. Additionally the dash boards crack and can get very ugly on you, also $$$$. Of course the dealership is all too happy to have you pay for this stuff $$$$$$ For these reasons, I'm going Lex next time
