Default new IS owner...question

Hey guys,

So i just got a new 2009 IS 250 AWD fully loaded on lease for 4 years. Got the truffle mica color . Have a question, how limited am I to modding the car as I am leasing it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

There's relatively little available for the car anyway, functionally. Certainly nothing that touches any power train internals or anything like that.

Intake and exhaust are simple enough to swap on now then back off later.

Plenty of cosmetic stuff you can do, and then take off again before the lease turn in... wheels, different lighting, etc...

There's some suspension stuff likewise (springs and sway bars for example).

Just bear in mind that if you're not doing your own labor you'll be paying labor twice, once now, and once to swap the stock parts back on.

thanks for the quick reply...

if i get smoke tail light overlay vinyl kit ... will that be easy to take off and won't leave a mark?

Also can anyone please guide me as to what options I have for rims? I don't really like the lexus ones...right now the car has 17 inch wheels. I asked the dealership to upgrade it to like 18 or something..they said they can't do it with an AWD?

What he said. + You should look into F-Sport Accessories they have a warranty on them.

Anything you can remove and put back to stock when you turn the car back in should be OK.

Well, i'm not sure if you like the other Lexus wheels, but they do offer 18" G-Spider wheels and ISP Mode alloy wheels for AWD.

They also sell a set of F-sport wheels in 18" for the AWD...

the major thing is you -must- keep the overall wheel/tire diameter the same front and rear, or you'll ruin your differential... that's why they don't come with staggered wheel options like the RWD 2ISes do.

nice..thanks a lot guys. I'm definately gonna look into getting lowered springs. I like the F-sport 18" tires, but gonna hold off on them till I get enough money lol.

Anyways, regarding smoke tail light overlay vinyl kit ... will that be easy to take off at the end of the lease (4 years) ? It it does come off, hopefully it wouldn't damage anything?
