The Lexus Parking Phenomenon
#31
I did notice this sort of in the fall, when I had classes during the day. But, I just said it was because our parking is pretty bad on campus.
This semester I have class in the evening so everyone is leaving while I'm coming in. I do park in the very back. One time, I did find a really nice parking spot up close to campus. I parked and climbed out. Turned to look at my car to realize that the spots were actually very very small. I had this sudden vision of getting dinged, so I jumped back in and parked in the further spot imaginable.
I've actually driven PAST MANY open spots in a parking lot just to find the area with the least amount of cars.

Yeahh... I hate doing the usual 360 inspection of the entire car anytime I park out in a public parking lot. I'm sure people look at me kinda crazy sometimes if I'm looking too hard. Usually always happens when it's wet and raining for me, and I don't see the dent until days later when I'm detailing. I have already paid to get some dents pulled out because I could not stand looking at them.

As much as possible, I try to get the end parking spaces or the ones next to the "islands" with the trees planted in them. You know that at least one side of your car will be ding free (unless the lawn care guys come thru and start cutting the grass that day). Luckily I got a parking space at my place that's like this, but I have to park all the way to one side of the space because I have a neighbor that can never park straight and doesn't really care when she opens her door.
