Anyone had an issue with their CAT Converter on the IS350 ?
I have an 06 IS350 and had the "CHECK VSC" light come on my display with the check engine light
Took it to the dealer , was told it was a gas cap code , they gave it back and now the lights came back on, brought it back and now they tell me its the catalytic convertor and they need to change it.
anyone have any problems like this?
or heard of any issues with the CAT on the 350?

Well, if the first time you brought the car in for service it was the fuel cap. Then you probably got a code in reference to the Evap system. Maybe a large leak detected. If you returned back again and they now recommend a converter. Then you probably got a code in reference for efficiency fail. Usally a code #PO42_. The converter is probably not reducing the NOx value threshold good enough. Converters usually don't go bad unless there might be a unknown condition issue from your engine.. Byproducts from oil,coolant,or even fuel might be "passing through" and end up collecting in your converter causing blockage or hot spots. I wouldn't worry for the first converter this time around..maybe a defect. But it wouldn't hurt to ask your adviser if they might suspect a underlying issue with your engine that could have cause your converter to fail in the first place.

U know that is a great idea...i will ask them that, because I dont hear of Convertors going after only 18K on the car.....
