$200/month is a lot but if it means that your car will be safe, then I think it's worth spending. And like you said, if you did park on the street and it got damaged you'd have to spend money to fix it. Might as well spend it first and keep it in its original state.

$200/month is expensive, but the peace of mind would be good, plus you can afford it.

I remember when I first bought my ISx50 and had to park outside in my apartment complex I was so worried. I'd check the car at random times at night just to see if it was still ok.

Or sell the car and buy a POS so you can park it on the street and not worry and save even more $$$

If you can afford it, then it should not even be a question.

How much is it to get a bumper repainted and fixed from someone that likes to parallel park using the bumper car method?

Ok...although a car depreciates over time, you spent alot to buy this nice car so it is like an investment. Soooo, paying $200 a month to save you from damage from what it sounds like is retarded people who don't know how to park is VERY worth it. Honestly, if I could..I would install a 24 hour camera in my car that would record everything! My biggest irritation is people who are inconsiderate and door ding, bumper tap, etc...and think its nothing and cause headaches like that to fix! a door ding that doesn't crack paint cost around $150-200 too fix so imagine a bigger hit! My mom's lexus has screw imprints on her back bumper cuz some moron backed into her bumper at work, but didn't stop to leave a note or anything..so when I see people who do these kind of things, I leave a note for the victim and help them out cuz really, you can't fix a bumper imprint (cuz its plastic) like a door ding cuz its metal! That just burns me up..

But back to your question...think about it in the long run. Parking garage = Safer & Cheaper solution OR Street parking = Retarded drivers and Expensive repairs

...Not to mention, cars passing by might wack it too!!!

the 200 dollars is definitely worth it. i saved up 200 dollars in COINS in a month... it's worth the money. however, if you get dings and scratches from other careless drivers in the garage, that's a different story... : D

$40Gs for a new Lexus, and you have to think about whether you want to garage it?

If one of your plans for saving more money is to get a house with garage, then you should save that $200.

Theres a lot of factors to this decision. Im planning on buying a place next year and saving money will be harder because of this. Its not really my own parking garage, but its more like parking in a deck. But still, it'll protect my car better than on the streets.

Thanks for all your input.

Is this parking "garage" or is just a "carport" aka a parking stall with a roof?

Nonetheless, $200 per month ($2,400 per year) is a pretty steep price for parking even if you can afford it.

I guess it will give you a piece of mind to know that your car is parked in a garage. But if you're planning on buying a place in the next year, you might need the additional money ($2,400).

Good luck on your decision.

I say just park it outside. Get that bumper guard thing. I forgot someone took a picture of it and it protects your bumper from dings.

$200 a month is way too expensive. And even if your car does get dings on the bumper. Just paint it in a few years. Would cost way less than $2,400.

I say do it....parking in Chicago is ~30k per year! for exactly what you want. 200$ is nothing and well worth and claim it on your taxes
