you sure it was stock? maybe it had stock sport springs which are like 10mm lower or maybe it had something heavy in the trunk.

Maybe the car wasn't "stock" at all...

Those with the sport package will have the sport suspension, thus is a lower ride

Like other people said, there's a lot of factors that may give the illusion his car is lower. Stuff in his car/trunk or maybe the ground is not straight. My driveway isn't the flattest, depending on where I park, sometimes my right side is lower, or my rear is lower. I do know though that my cousin's stock '08 IS350 is definately a lot higher than my '09 IS350 that sits on F-Sport springs.

Maybe the stock springs settle after all. maybe he had some heavy stuff in the trunk. maybe his tires were low and made the bumpers be lower. or maybe he got in a wreck and the bumper didnt fit perfectly back on...

I disagree, I do really believe with the suspension changes to 09' the cars all sit a little higher. They also ride different (softer) than the prior models.. Ive spent many hours at dealerships comparing 08's and 09's and the 09' sits about 1/2 inch higher than 08's. (even without sport package)

yeah, the ground was level, it is a co-worker.. she bought a basic 08' is250, no mods or packages.. but it just seemed like the space between her tire and fender where lower than my 09'.. hmm.. im over it.. im just trying to decide should i get springs or coils..
