Can I do the services myself? What about warranty?
I have IS350 2009.
I would feel like a fool paying for the Lexus service every 5000 miles/6 months.
I would like to do the oil changes myself, along with tire rotation, measure the brake pad wear, aircon filter, change the smart key battery.
I would be happy to give them the car for service every 15,000 miles.
Now, the warranty states that the services can be performed "by you or any automotive service provider you choose" however "failure due to improper maintenance" voids the warranty.
It also says that maintenance can be performed on the car "by any qualified person or facility".
I am not "qualified", but I can definitely do the oil change etc myself.
What is the accepted opinion on what do do with all this?

you can do all you want, and as long as what you do is not damaging the car you are fine.
"qualified" is just a word they use to say the person has to know what he/she is doing
for example you change oil, later on the engine damaged coz' of no engine oil. upon inspection and the filter is loose and keep on leaking, then your warranty is gone, coz' you did it wrong.
but if you change your oil, and later on the tranny has issues, they will warrant itq

Oil change is very easy, look up diy page.
Tire rotation is free, well you dont have to because your wheels staggered yes?
Everything else u said is kiddy stuff.
I only let dealer touch my car if, electrical, engine problem, alignments, things that only computer can diagnose or warranty.

You're right the tires are staggered so its just oil changes.
How can I preserve the service history though? Should I take photos with a newspaper to prove the date? Or could I somehow enter it to the online Lexus service history system?
I'm just thinking of resale perhaps in 5 years, when it would be best to have a full service history for the buyer to see.
thanks!

Phase 1- Buy file folder or manilla envelope for .50 cents.
Phase 2- Put receipts in said envelope every time you buy the oil/filter, said receipts will be dated.
Phase 3- Profit!
