Default Can the NAVI run with no disc?

I just got a loner fom the dealer and i hit the eject button on the navi and it said no disc. Can these cars run with no disc or did the dealer just lock the disc in the drive?

hmm I think you always need the disc. You should tell the dealership rite away or else they might think you stole the disc when you return the loaner!! Better to be safe then sorry!!

Default the wierd thing is that the nav works just fine...

the wierd thing is that the nav works just fine...i wonder if the 09 has a HD that can store the map data on? Strange....

I bet they lock the drive somehow?

It is an es...where is the dvd drive on those for 09? I think it comes out of the dash 6 disk, right?

Dealer told me that some models (not the IS) have a hard drive based Nav for 2009. Then again, who the F knows if anything a dealer says is correct, lol.

There are two holes on the side of the clock area, all you do is push a paper clip or something and it pops out.

I think Please correct me if im wrong.

OK, it sounds like there is something behind the clock but there are no pinholes on the 09 ES. It looks like i would have to take the whole freaking dash apart to get it out. WTF!

Dont jack the dealer Getting a loaner is a privilege and dont ruin it by "testing" out the new navi disk. It will most likely look the same on the ES as it would on your IS.

what the heck are you talking about. I wasnt going to jack the dealer. The reason i asked if it can run without a disc is because when i hit eject no disc came out and if the 09 es has a hd then we may be able to do that on an is. And for the map data...there is a **** load of construction going on in my city. I dont want to pay for a disc upgrade if it dosent have any of it....i was not going to jack the dealer... they would obviously figure out that i took out the disc even it it could run without it.

so back to the topic....how do i get the disc out of an 09es? there are no pin holes and it seems odd that they would put it somewhere that would be extremely hard to get to....or does it....greedy bastards!

Then this thread needs to be moved to the ES forum. I thought originally you got a IS, some of the cars have the navigation dvd in the glove department.

(bolded for emphasis)

first of all, wrong section. you should ask the ES guys.

second, why you messing w/ a loaner? the dealership is nice enough to give you a loaner while your car is in service; don't screw it up by messing w/ the loaner. you just might be the reason they change the loaner policy.

third, the eject button is for the in-dash CD changer, not for the DVD nav.

this thread is getting shadier by the post...
