I had the recall done about 2 weeks ago. I'm starting to notice that my car makes a "clunk" noise during acceleration. usually between 30-40 mph. the second i let go of the gas... "clunk".
I took everything out of my trunk... including my spare. Still makes the noise.
Anybody else have notice this problem after the 3 recalls? Its the oddest noise.
Thanks.

I got mine back from the dealer today, and haven't noticed anything abnormal, thus far.

Hey all,
I finally got my car back from the check VSC and gear issue. They did the all three recalls for my model as well as changing the O2 sensor and my transmission.
My initial thoughts....
1. The steering is significantly heavier and tighter. Turning out of the dealership required much more force than before. Although it's too early to say if I like it better. It doesn't feel as smooth as it did before, but the heavier feel does make it seem a bit more sporty. Then I drove on the interstate and this was the part that I did not like. At 60-70mph the steering wheel has a slight play in it for about an inch or two to the left and right of center. Turning it slightly an inch or so is good enough to change a lane. However, it seems to wobble just a bit too much. Turning it past the 1-2 inches feels tight like it does at slow speeds.
2. My brakes do seem to bite down tighter as they probably bleed the system. Feels good. I do need a to change my brakes tho.
3. New transmission feels good. Changing gears feel smooth, and seems normal. I noticed shifting the car into drive/reverse/etc feels a bit tighter too, tho it could just be in my head (I did drive the loaner for almost 2 weeks).
Total time to do the recalls:
3 full days for all 3 recalls.
1 day for my transmission
4 days for all the parts to come in
1-2 days to diagnose transmission
(Dropped off 1/16/09 evening - Picked up 1/28/09 evening).

Well, just got all three service bulletin and a gear like noise with the telescopic steering completed by Lexus of Pleasanton. I have to say it took a little longer than expected but that's because they needed to order a new guage assembly for a separate issue. They loan me a RX 350 for the week while the service was getting done. Overall very good service from my service manage Jason Portillo and the car came back like it went in except washed and a full tank of gas. I also noticed while looking through the service documents that they also attached an alignment readout. I guess they needed to perform an alignment after installing the steering rack. I would recommend them if you need to get these safety recalls done.

My car was in 2 weeks ago--no mention of steering recall. They did the fuel line recall. they did have to keep it a second day, but only b/c I had them hunting down a creaking noise. If it weren't for that, it would have been done by day's end (I couldn't hang around waiting to hear from them if it was going to be finished the first day).
