Problem with EBC "RED" ceramic front brakes.
I was very unhappy with the excessive brake dust that was given off with the stock OEM brakes. Yes I know there is a TSB for this. But the pad were completely worn out (bought it with 12K miles for my daughter). I wanted to put dustless ceramic brakes on the car. I had had previous good results with Akebono's that I put on my my son's 350Z, but they were not available when I needed them last year. The only ceramic brake that I could obtain were EBC red brakes.
Unfortunately, this was a BIG mistake. In 8k mile the pads are not only gone, but have completely destroyed the rotors as well. I had initially been in contact with EBC about the excessive brake dust that I continued to have with the EBC brakes this past August. But now I have had to replace both the brakes pads and rotors. I have been In communication with a rep from EBC and he acknowledges that there is a problem and an EBC engineer in England has experienced the same issue. NOW, to rectify the problem, he wants to sen me new rotors and some specially made EBC "Yellow" pads. Has anyone ever heard of these? Real problem is that I have already paid for and had installed new pads (Wagner) and rotors. Not sure what I would do with the parts. Although, my wife has an identical Is 250 AWD with 5 k miles. Not sure I would take a chance putting them on here car when the pads wear out. I guess I could sell them as well, but who would buy an unkown brake pad? Advice?

i had the same amt of brake dust on the EBC Red stuff pads also. I really didnt see much difference from the OEM pads. I only had them on the car for a few thousand miles and sold the car so not sure what the long term would be. The EBC green pads are probably what you should have gone with. The red stuff is a race/high performance pad. I have no complaints from the period I got to use them.
really do what you feel comfortable with. if you dont think they are good then i would sell them on eBay or something to get rid of them. Maybe I will take the pads off you when you get them. Its the same pads on my GS.
