$350 for 15K service..
Helloooo guys and gals. It's time for a 15k service and I was quoted $350.. which I though was rather steep for oil change and visual inspection..By your opinions, is it recommended that I take it to the dealer for 15k service or will it just as good to just go to a reputable mechanic for an oil change? Did most of you get it done by the dealer? Just curious..

The 15k service consists of oil change, engine air filter change, A/C filter change, and fluid-top-up and check-up.
Other than the oil change, you can do everything yourself.
Buy the engine and A/C air filters, and you can do both in less than 5 minutes. Both DIY instructions can be found via Search.
Save yourself $250 from costly dealership labor (even more if you get your oil change with a reputable mechanic). Good luck!

Dealer prices seem to be escalating at a logarithmcally.
A good portion of what they do is not called for in the manual and they seem to sneak in gas and oil additives to increase the cost

Call around for a better rate if you can. I think I paid $300 for the 40k service (which I believe is a major service) but all of the others I've payed about $115. You can also have them take out certain items if you don't want to pay for them. (Straight oil change was ~$60, still steep, but it's dealer service)
From calling around for service, I've been quoted from $115 up to $350 for the same exact service, but different dealers. I think Lexus should regulate that somehow, since I think it's BS that each dealer can set their own service/parts prices.
