Default IS250 AWD: possible to turn Traction control off?

That is the question. There's no Trac Off button and the trick with brake pedals which turns it off on RWD models doesn't work. Is there a way?

Been trying some fun driving in snow with sweeping turns but the Trac kicks in right when the fun begins (its probably not too good for the drivetrain but you don't do it every day). Trac can be turned off on BWM 3-er with X-drive. What about IS250 AWD?

Hi and Welcome to CL!!

There is a way to do this. I'm told that it's the same for RWD & AWD cars but I've never tried it. Here's the link for the 2006 Pedal Dance if you want to double check what your doing.

PS you sound like you know what your doing but I still feel compelled to say be careful

Thanks for the welcome))
I don't do that crazy driving in a traffic or places where you can fly off the road
I tried the pedal dance but its either me having some curly legs, or the pedal dance doesn't work for AWD. Wonder if anyone with AWD managed to disable Trac.

This works for me..

Start car.
Push ebrake down.
Turn off car.
Turn on car and keep foot on brake.
Pump the brake 3 times. (foot can stay off on third time)
Pump ebrake 3 times.
Pump brake 2 times and you will notice the yellow light appear.

Make sure you do the sequence right, cuz one more pump on the brake pedal initiates the self destruction mechanism.

This is so true. I wouldn't suggest trying it.

Yeah they put the button in after a few lawsuits where someone over did the pedal dance and blew their cars up. Fortunately no one was killed

Pedal dance is only required on an 06

On an 08 just hold the TRAC button down for a few seconds until both lights come on on the dash.

If you press it only it'll turn off but come back on at 30 mph. Hold it down for a few and it'll stay off till the car turns off.

gonna try the pedal dance again then) probably was doing something wrong

as for tires, since studded winter tires are alowed in Russia, about 60% people prefer to use them (and screw up roads). In remote regions there's a sense in that since roads are often like polar glacier, but since I drive in Moscow and outskirts mostly (where the road is often more dry than not and where studs can get you into trouble in a forceful breaking), this season I went using studless Nokian Hakkapielitta R 225/45/R17 all around and pretty pleased with it.
Pondering to go staggered summer wheels despite of possible issues with AWD. (225/40/R18 and 255/35/R18. Not California style ofcouse but the lowest diameter difference may spare the AWD drive).
