When do you guys think the new lexus IS model redesign will be announced? I'm thinking of getting the Lexus IS 250 but don't want to get a model that may get replaced soon.

Lexus just pushed the IS production to 6-year cycle. If this is true we'll be seeing the new one in 2012..maybe late 2011 as 2012 year model

Im thinking probably 2011 as 2012 model if the 6 year model cycle pushes thru.. Keep in mind they just introduced the F as 2008 model and the convertible will just be coming out next year

Cool, thanks. Automotive News has been hit and miss with their predictions. A lot of their stuff does end up happening, so it could be. I'd be surprised if Lexus stretched it to six years though. The IS segment is so competitive, waiting six years to add a new model is really playing with fire. We shall see.

I think it's a good idea, it allows more R&D money to be spent on a given model. You have more time to recoup the R&D, so you can spend more.

I believe Mercedes used to have very long periods before redesigns at a time when their cars were considered to be quality and "classic". Now that they're 5 year rotations like everyone else, they seem a lot less "special".

1st Gen IS was 5 years, but was based on the Altezza which had been out for a few years prior. I believe that the Altezza started as a 1999 model (not 100% sure of this) and the final year for the IS was 2005. So a pretty long run altogether, although I think the Altezza was only produced until 2004.

I saw the production years for the ISx50 in the back passenger carpet floor mat, this is from 08 model 250.

In motorcycle world, there usually hint in parts of the motorcycle, ie. gas tank, etc..

From my sources over here in Japan the IS will be up for a new one at the end of 2011.
