Yeup my IS350 takes a little more than 6 quarts with filter...Just read the manual....the very last page should have all the specs.

Just checked my manual and its 6.6 quarts of oil with filter.

Default The manual says 6.6 qts for 2wd and 6.8 qts

for AWD. I just changed the oil and filter on my IS350 , couple days ago and 6.6 qts did not hit the top mark of the 2 marks of the dipstick, so I ended up putting in the rest of the 7th quart and it came up closer to the top mark.

BWAHAHAHAHHA!! Now that's punny!

At the OP. Umm.....why don't you just fill the crankcase until the it reads full on the dipstick? Just a thought.

Just got an oil change also but they put in 8 quarts. I checked the dipstick and it is over the two dots. Is there any negative effect to the car when this happens?

I'd drain a over a quart.
Too much oil in the crank case can cause more oil than usual to be sprayed onto the cylinder walls making the oil rings work very hard to clean the excess oil away.
Another concern about overfilling the oil is foaming. The oil will foam and result in less protection for your engine.Maybe seal issues too.
I don't know if a 1.5 qt overfill would cause these problems but why take the chance?

Ok thanks. I will drain the excess today. Luckily, it's only been a day of driving.

So who did this "oil change" for you and why did they use 8qts??

Not only did you over pay for the 8th qt, but over filling the engine with Oil is just silly and potentially very harmful...

Ok, took it back to the shop and they drained the excess oil but don't know how much. The dipstick show the oil level is still above the top dot by about 1/8 of an inch. The tech said this is ok. Is it? Is it really important that the level is not above the top dot?

Just ordered filters from sewell, they are listing 04152-yzza5 as correct filter. Other posts list -yzza3?, Is -yzza5 correct also?..... Thanks.
