Default JDM vs. USDM ISF Tail Lights

Hi,

For those who has converted their lights to ISF, please share pictures and your opinions between these two versions of ISF tail lights.

From researching, I have read that USDM version has extra LED side marker lights whereas the JDM does not.

For those who have installed the USDM version, do you have to tap additional wires for the side marker feature to be working?

Thank you!!

I have the JDM versions...

Yes, the only difference are the 4 rear sidemarker LEDs. The USDM IS-F version should be exactly like USDM ISx50 and no wire tapping required. I like the additional LEDs but I can live without them. The only thing I couldn't live with was the amber. Carson carries JDM which cost more compared to Sewell who has USDM versions.

I also have a pair of jdm is-f taillights waiting to be put on. i'm planning to do it next week. Stay tuned as I will post pics soon.

Mister T, did you unplug the LED's when you installed the taillights? Or did you leave them hanging around underneath?

There is nothing hanging around. The USDM side LEDs are internal to the outer tail lights like the rear facing lights. They are all powered by a connection from the wiring harness that also carries the blinker bulb. Not sure about USDM but for JDM, the tails come with their own wiring harness which you must use and it has a amber bulb rather than clear.

Here is a pic of the JDM version from carson...

everything will work fine as long as you have a US model IS. if you look at your stock tail lights, the LED sidemarkers are there also. if you actually take a look at the IS-F and IS250/350 tail lights, they are identical EXCEPT for the white amber. that's the ONLY difference.

I believe Carson carried JDM for a period of time back in January 08.

I prefer the USDM version because I like those LED sidemarkers. This will be my next mod soon.

I don't see the difference. Where is the sidemarker that you guys are talking about?

On the USDM taillights, there are 4 little red LEDs that are located in the reflector piece. On the JDM models, there is nothing in the middle, and is a solid reflector piece.

I'm also going to miss those LEDs, but I'd rather have the clear turn signals!
