Special order pricing
I'm looking to special-order a 2009 IS 350 with ML. Is $1500 above invoice (whatever invoice turns out to be when Lexus announces pricing) a good price? That's what a local dealer is quoting me.

Better than most dealers do on special orders at least... Not to say it's impossible to find one who'd special order cheaper than that, you can certainly shop that price against any other local dealers, or counter with 1k over... but I doubt you'd get it cheaper-enough than that from a non local dealer to make it worth the hassle of buying non-local.

I think paying market value for the car when it comes in is fair. It really isn't that difficult to figure out.
Is $1500 over invoice a fair price for a special order delivered during a time when the dealer is pulling an incentive from Lexus? Not in my book it isn't.
That gives the dealer the fifteen hundred + the incentive + 100% of the hold back. To me that is too much gravy for them. I think when they have the car, then settle on a price and I think finding a fair one will be pretty easy. It isn't like you are ordering a lime green Ferrari or something weird where the dealer could end up over a barrel on the car.
It really depends on the buyer. Some people it would eat at them and some could care less. $1500 over is definitely in the ballpark for an IS350 though.

The same thing it has meant for years: the Mark Levinson sound system, presumably, in this case, without the navigation.
From Edmunds....
You really don't get the DVD stuff listed there with the stand alone Levinson though.
