Need help with Vaistech SL2vi Install
I just installed my iPod kit SL2vi and I'm scratching my head as to where the extra wire from the Y-adapter get's connected to. Below I circled the extra wire that's not connected to anything and I'm not sure where to connected to since I don't see anything else that will fit onto that wire. I have the NAV w/out ML. So maybe that wire is suppose to be used for ML units??? Also, when I tested out the video the picture is black and white on my screen but the movie is NOT in black and white.... help?
PS: I F-ed up my vents by taking it out so I will need to probably get it replaced at the stealership I better get the lube for my butt since they will probably rape me in charges for a new piece

Sorry to hear that you completely f*ed up your vent, I read some where that this vent along may cost you a couple of hundred bucks . I actually dont have the Vaistech unit, however if I remember correctly when I installed the US SPEC Ipod adaptor on my car. You need to use that Y adapter - you will disconnect the wire that connected to a blue connector (I think it located at the near bottom *Second* row to the LEFT of your head unit if you seating & pulling out the head unit from the driver side). Once its disconnected, you need to use this Y adaptor - and plug "Connector 1" to the head unit to the port/connector mentioned above. You then connect the wire which you just disconnect from the blue port on head unit to the "Factory Harness" connector on the Y adaptor. And lastly the other connection will be use to your Vaistech unit/brain. I hope this helps.
My IS is actually with ML, so it may make a different .

Ok, found my issue, I had my iPod set to PAL instead of NTSC!! but that issue with the "extra" harness is still hanging by itself but it doesn't seem to be a problem because everything else works A OK...

Extra connector is not needed...
I just did a VaisTech SL2iV install myself today and had the same concern regarding the extra connection off of the cable. I eventually arrived at the conclusion that it wasn't needed once I tested everything out.
Nice work on getting it in. Sorry to hear about your vents though. Getting those vents out of the dash was by far the hardest part of the install. Good luck getting yours back together. Hopefully it's not too expensive.

andy,
you should use wires for pulling out the vents. You put the wire in from the top through the bottom and out on both vents. Then you pull them out nice and slow. I learned this from technique.

Ok, thank goodness, got my vents fixed with no problem! I'm thinking about cutting those stupid clips that you have to pull down...are they needed for anything? The vents are secure without those clips I think!
