Default Need your advice- smoked ordark tailights? Getting it done this Fri.

I'm thinking about getting my tailights smoked but the person that is doing it for me says that there are 2 types of film: smoke and dark. I have a black IS350 https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=364583 and I don't want anything TOOO dark, however, I do want it to complement my black exterior and tint nicely. With that said, I'm leaning towards the smoke but I don't want it to look GRAY. I've tried searching for the smoked tailights but I can't really tell whether the pics that were posted were the dark tint or the smoke tint. Also, do you think I should leave the reverse light as it is or should I tint that as well (I think cutting the vinyl so the reverse light stays looks cool on a black car)?

If anyone has any pics of either the smoked tailights (vs the dark ones) or could point me to a previous post, I'd greatly appreciate that.

When I get my tailights done, I'm also going to get my windows tinted. The dude said he only uses Suntek (he's tinted Rolls Royce Phantoms, Jags, Benzes, Bemurs, and Lexus with Suntek for the past 5 years and no problems). Compared to Llumar and 3M how does Suntek compare? He said that it came with a lifetime warranty on bubbling and fading?

Anyhow, here is the website http://www.tvpauto.com/tinting.htm of where I'm going to get it done. Pretty legit dude I think.

Suntek 35%: $250
Smoke tailights: $80

smoke taillights don't look gray, they are a deep deep red. you should smoke out the reverse light as well to give a clean even look.

make sure you black out the rear reflectors too.

and if you want your tint to match your smoke/black outs, you might want to look at getting something darker than 35%.

since you are a blk car and if you do it BLK them out IMO. I did the red outs and smoke on the lower reflectors and the smoke doesnt look so good on the blk.

good luck!

:Agree: iam also thinking about doing this ... the law states that ur tail lights are fine as long as you can see the lights fromm 300 ft away.
