Default Got a quote on an IS. Is it good?

Hey guys, I got quoted $33,406 for an 08 IS250 with Navi which stickers for $38,545. Is this a good price?

I am looking for a new car and I am down to the IS250 and the Acura TL Type-S. I know that the TL has more power than the IS250 but the price of the 250 is very close to the TL Type-S which was quoted at $33,820.

I drive a 2006 Acura TSX right now, so I was kind of looking for something with more power. The IS250 has about the same hp but has more torque which really makes a difference but the TL has 286 hp The cars have pretty much all the same features with the exeption of the push button start and RWD on the IS.

What would you guys do?

P.S. I asked the same thing on the Acura boards and of course they said TL Type-S.

tough call. RWD, weaker engine, great interior vs 6 spd manual, 286 hp, good interior, FWD. Dunno I'd lean towards an IS just because the new TL will come out next year. I would never purchase a certain model car that will get redesigned in the next upcoming model year or two. That just makes the car feel outdated, lousy feeling. I bet if you wait till the end of the month that quote will get even lower. You can always crack better deals towards the end of the month. I got my IS350 + sport + ML for 37500, 39978 OTD new, purchased on the 31st of a month

If you dont have to have a car now, I'd wait to see what the next TL will be like. Off Topic: I saw the 2009 TSX in person, friend had it as a loaner, huge upgrade over the previous gen, I really like it.

I disagree. The interior of the G37 is no where near up to par with the Lexus interior.

Get the IS350. Dont ask, just do it. You will find out you made the right choice later.

Hmm do you want performance or everyday comfort driving? Performance ya the 250 cant come anywhere near the type S. Better comparison would be the IS 350 vs Type S.

Like the 2nd post says tho...if you dont need the car just yet wait a few months and see what the new TL will look like. By then the prices on this model will be dirt cheap.

I did test drive the G37 and loved it. It has more than enough power and the interior quality is a big step up from the older models. The problem with this car is that I can't seem to get as good of a price and one in that price range would not have navigation.

As for the next gen TL, I have thought about waiting for it but I probably wont be able to get such a good price. I really like the styling of the current TL but I know it will look outdated once the new ones arrive. I drove the nex TSX but I really want more power and there is something about the styling that I just can;t get over. I assume the new TL will have similar styling cues also.

Have you looked fo ra used certified pre owned IS350. Bet you can get near the price of that IS250 new and have a 7 year warranty on it from CPO (way better than any new warranty). Newness feeling is overrated, its gone in about 3-4 months.

Default Acura/Honda 3.5L V-6 Pinging Issues

This is just something to consider when looking at the 2007 and 2008 TL Type S.

This is a pretty long thread but I think page 21 is a good summary page to start with.

This issues extends with not only with the TL-S but with the other platforms that share the 3.5L V6 (J35) powerplant (eg. Honda Accord and Odyssey, Acura RL, Saturn Vue).

This obviously doesn't affect *every* car, but I believe this is an issue too major to ignore especially when there seems to be no foreseeble fix from the manufacturer. I believe atleast 30 odd some people have mentioned they have this pinging issue on this thread alone.

I'm not sure if anything in this class is. A G37 will be more $$ than a comparably equipped 250.

Given the TL will be restyled soon, I would go with the IS.

TLS sounds better and has quad exhaust. I think better comparison would be IS350 vs TLS, since you're comparing IS250 then TLS is better choice. I would suggest you wait until redesign due next year. Current design is OLD.

I believe the restyled '09 TL is coming out later this year with AWD... I'd prefer the 250 all around, especially with the way gas prices are these days...

If you want the IS350 but can't swing it due to budget, consider a CPO model. It will take some hunting to find the options/colors you want (may need to be flexible). Lexus does a good job reconditioning these cars. And the warranty is great (3yrs/100k) plus I think it can now be extended beyond that.

That's a tough one. The 250 is only a minor upgrade from your TSX. How do you feel about your TSX and Acura? If you had a good experience, go with the TL. The style will change in the next year, make sure that won't bother you. It's supposed to be very impressive looking.

On the current TL, I really don't like the rims. I don't think the push button start is as great as I thought it would be. You can do without it.

I had a 2004 TL and got a 2008 350. If I like the new TL style, I would get that car again before going with another Lexus.
