Question mobile charger question (leaving it in the 12V outlet all the time)

is it ok if I leave my mobile phone charger on the 12V outlet all the time? even with no phone being charged? because I find it troublesome to plug it in when I'm in the middle of driving..so I'm thinking of leaving it plugged into the outlet all the time(in the center console) and just plug my phone when I need to recharge..

is it bad to do that?

YES! while leaving the typical car charger plugged into the 12v outlet leads to total catastrophic engine failure. which leads to total warranty denial.

haha its perfectly fine, but this is a true fact. some of the cheaper generic chargers will continously charge your phone although it may appear that your battery is completely charged there is still a very minimal current being sent to the phone. while not deathly to your battery in time it is suppose to degrade battery life. the factory or brand chargers will shut off charging when the full charge is complete. either way its ok!

I won't charge it for like 8 hours in the car either. maybe just 1-2 hours just to get the phone back alive again..lol.

While the charger is plugged in, regardless of whether a phone is attached, it will continue to draw a small amount of power. Same thing for all power bricks for laptop, PDA, etc. Usage is really minuscule and you're not going to hurt anything.

Never have unplugged mine for almost three year with no problems. I don't see how there could be a problem.

just make sure you have a good charger with a fuse. don't want any car or battery fires due to heat or overcharging.
