16HP for free for IS220d 163hp owners
This probably doesn't apply for most people on this forum
However, as I found my way here, I guess this could help some european IS220d owners, just so the info on this forum is a little more complete
So, the IS220d engine is originally a toyota enigine with 178bhp, it is however reduced to 162bhp in many european countries for tax reasons. At least Toyota gives you the choice between 162bhp anf 178bhp, Lexus however only offers the 162bhp version.
Luckily this is easily remedied
Remove the fromt and left plastic engine cover. Attached to the airbox and the air mass meter you will notice a suspicious looking little box:
upon closer inspection we notice:
Toyota "motorsport" huh...
Remove the plug from this box into the air mass meter, and plug the one that goes into this box directly into the air mass meter. You now have the 178bhp version of the engine.

Interesting. I wonder if the IS250s have something similar? I know the IS350 is the same engine with larger displacement, but I always wondered if the engines were a bit closer than 100hp...

Just as they told me it was impossible to hack the navigation
I'm from Overijse, I've had the IS for 2 weeks now...

The difference is definitely noticeable, I had the impression when I floored the car in 4th-6th gear that the power was not completely linear throughout the powerband, the that it lost its breath above 4000rpm (Diesels generally only go up to about 5000rpm). This has now completely disappeared, power is very linear and it is actually worthwile to take the engine over 4000rpm.
Very happy with it really...

Thatīs how easy engine tuning should be!
Always wondered why there are 2 BENELUX versions as itīs probably not the biggest market to develop different engines. Does the Dutch model also have the limiter? Ours here isnīt limited.
