Because of gas..I'm planning on a Mini
Gas is getting pretty high, going up to 60 bucks a full tank. I've always wanted a Mini Cooper S and their gas mileage is about 40. I've looked at some other cars, but i like the way the Mini Cooper is styled and the size is just amazing. I wanted to lease the mini and still keep the 350 for like special occasions while i drive the mini on a regular basis. What do you guys think? Should i just keep driving the IS, lease the Mini cooper, or buy another daily driver?

not to hate or anything but if you complain about gas prices. then... take public transportation I just see it as a convenience fee. U can either sit in bart/bus/etc and smell all the wonderful smells the world has to offer. OR you can sit in your nice IS350 with leather seats that are ventilated/heated at the touch of your fingers and also have your own climate and not have to stop at every single stop that your neighbor is going to get off at.

Are you sure it gets 40mpg? From what I've read, they are more in the mid to high 20s in real use. I will have to check with my sister to see what she gets, although I am not sure she actually monitors it.
In any case, if you lease the Mini for $x/month, will you really save $x in gas every month? Plus, now you are maintaining 2 cars (service, insurance, ...).

honestly there really no point on getting a second car, unless you're racking a shiet load of miles a day. you wont be saving money. if its really a problem, just pick up a used civic for a couple of grand.

It's going to be a used car. My friend has a S and she said she gets 40 miles.
My uncle works in the insurance company so we get a discount on all of your cars (3 so far).
My 350 is my daily driver and i drive it 5 days a week from home to school to work and to my girl friend's work.I fill up at least once a week and sometimes twice a week.
Maybe i'll look into something else. I'll check on that 40MPG

No Cooper is going to get 40 mpg's. Just not going to happen. You'd be lucky to get high 30 mpg in realistic mixed driving.
Bottom line, you never save any $ when you get a new car. It's just another debt and payment. Paying off what you have now would yield more longterm savings.

Your friend is full of it . I own a Mini Cooper S (6-speed) and at best I get about 28.5 mpg with mixed driving; and with aggresive driving it drops to the range of 23 to 25 mpg. Just keep the IS350 and enjoy it.

I believe the solid points to this thread have been made... I'd get the Cooper ONLY if you want some spirited driving... you won't save a thing unless you get rid of your IS.... and the key word is save.... depreciating assets can be reduced, no such thing as "save"...
