Default IS350 alternator

Does the is350 share its alternator with any other lexus? I am looking into an upgraded alternator.

I'm sure its the same size, but diff. electrical specs. They all have regulators that maintain the correct charge for the car. The regulator will differ from car to car.

I'll research this and get back to you. I'm back at work on Monday to find out the specs on it. I think the GS350 will switch out with ours but I'm not sure of the current output on either car.

According to the Lexus parts book, the alternator is a 27060-31060 which also fits:
IS250/350/ and AWD
2006-2008 GS300/350/430/460

No Toyota models.

the alternator will be mated with the engine type. So if its the same engine family it will bolt on.

Anyone know of an alternator capable of running 2000 watts aprox. for an audio setup plus the car's electrical system, safely, for a 2006 IS350?

IIRC...

Amps = Watts / Volts
so
X = 2,000 / 12
X = 166.66

I'm not sure what the current output of the IS250/350 alternator is, but I guarantee its not > 160 Amps. In fact, I'd guess it to be between 90-120. And remember that the 166 amp calculated draw is JUST the audio... so figure on another 40 amps or so to run the car. Now you're looking at 200 without any reserve.

That being said, you probably want to run a second set of batteries in the trunk or look to do a custom alternator setup. But I don't have a whole lot of experience with ICE, so maybe with a Cap or two you don't need the extra capacity... i dunno.

Do the big 3 upgrade, add a battery or 2 in the trunk and you'll be good to go.

The 2008 GS460 alternator is rated at 180A@12 vdc. The stock unit for the IS350 is rated at 150A. Keep in mind, alternators actually put out 14.4 vdc, not 12, so this alternator would be powerful enough to actually produce almost 2.6 kW. The stock unit is enough for 2.2 kW. Not sure if it's a bolt on replacement though. Terminals can be in different positions to accommodate the engine's configuration.
