This topic has been discussed before. It is normal to smell that when you are hard on the gas pedal. I smell it for all of the cars I've owned before. Few of my friends' cars make this odor too. We all use 93 octane so I don't see how fuel quality helps. For my IS, i barely smell it though, very rare that it makes the smell.

Yups carchitect is right its the high content of sulfur that is coming from the exhaust. I use to have it when i filled up with like shell or 76 now i fill up with chevron and its all gone. It just depends on the gas blends. The sulfur smell is like fart/rotten eggs smell.

The fart and rotten food smell can also be from the A/C. Moisture getting trapped in the vents and hvac tracts can lead to possible mold. The rotten smell is usually from trapped moisture though. After using the A/C for a long period of time, I usually turn it off just before my drive is over and let warm air circulate to clear things up. My mother's Camry was notorious for the fart a/c smell.

i think the gas sulfur thing is more correct, i use shell 89, which is the medium gas up north. cause it is cold here so i thought i don't have to go 91. (we only got 87, 89, and 91). but i'll definately try chevron 91. thanx guys.

Thats funny cause I was just going to come home and post a thread about this. I just pushed my car in the freeway after a long time of driving like a grandma and my car suddenly smelled like someone dropped a stink bomb in my car.

I have this same problem in my car and smells like **it when I turn on the ac for the first few mins. Will changing my ac filter (cabin filter) take away the smell?

yea try avoiding those "cheap" gas stations . . .

also about the A/C and Heater that smells when you turn it on, it's because you haven't used it in a while or it's the first time you're turning it on. It's normal. But if it always smells for the first few minutes every single time you turn it on for more than a month, contact your dealer and have them check it out

I wish I had a Chevron near me . . .

I only go to BP or Shell and avoid stations that have a 1 pump for all 3 grades.
