Trade in 250 AWD for 350?
hey guys,
so i've got an 06 gfm 250 awd with <30k miles on the clock. i love the car but besides the absolutely stunning color, it really doesn't have much going for it under the hood. the car itself is in amazing condition and has been babied since the day i took it home. i have done all of tsibs/service since last july when i bought it. my car has.... no options except for a pair of floormats.
i would like to think the awd car has some great resale value especially in the northeast but honestly i'm really not sure. as the title of this thread states, i'd really like to get into a 350 this summer as long as the hit i'm expecting isn't TOO severe. so my question is, what kind of hit do you guys think i should expect to take to trade up to a used, base model 350 with roughly the same mileage? i'm from the tri-state area if that helps anyone with their responses..
thanks a lot!

not exactly sure of what it would be, but best bet would be to kellybluebook.com it, i think itd be around 20-25k to sell.. and in my opinion you'll get the best out of the AWD selling it in the northeast since thats where its really needed with weather (i've ONLY seen an is250 AWD so far in NY and my area, no 350s, the only 350's i've seen have been in florida or other states lol)
i'd check the price for both yours and then the 350 you want on kbb, should give you a good estimate

Hmm I'm driving my 350 in CA now and I plan to give to my mom (she's in Toronto, Canada) in 2-3 years. Will the 350 operate well in the snow? I mean, will it drive as well as any other non-AWD sedans?

You will take too much of a hit on your vehicle, I think you should keep it IMO. I do love the 350 power, and I was just in an IS-F this past weekend and hit 100mph in no time, but I am happy with the AWD. It is piece of mind. If I had two cars, that would be a different story. When you say your AWD has no options, don't you at least have the premium package with heated/ventilated seats?

If you have the money, get the 350!!!
Why would you get a car with no options if you knew you were going to be unhappy with your decision down the road?
If your going to get something and have it for a while, get what you want to avoid regrets.

thanks for all the responses guys...
when i first started shopping for a car last july, i was looking at an 05-06 rsx type-s or the new civic si coupes. i was pretty much dead set on these two cars and my father was willing to help me out in paying for a car (50/50, fully paid off). being the die hard lexus fan that he is, he offered to extend his percentage a little more and put me into a beautiful is250 awd that we saw at the dealer (bridgewater lexus). of course, i was so ecstatic at the idea of being able to drive an entry level luxury car i didn't even think about performance numbers or anything like that.
so now i'm really craving some performance and am thinking about switching to an is350, s2000 or a 350z this summer. 2007 Zs are going for around 24-25 at the moment, s2000s are going for roughly the same (probably a little bit lower), and i'm really not sure how much is350s are going for. for the 3 cars above, i am shopping pre-owned (06+) with <= 30k miles on the clock. any suggestions for particular models?

I'm loving it though, all I can say is the Nissan dealer on rt22 suck *****, I registered for a Z brochure when I was shopping for my car, and I guess that jerk salesmen thought I was some young kid just drooling at the Z and didnt even bother to call me back or send one to me

sweet. im from basking ridge, nj. where in jersey are u from? im currently going to school in pittsburgh, gonna be finishing up this year.
yeah im really looking into the Z right now. the 07+ model has the new vq35hr engine which is basically a revamped version of the old vq35de. that infamous g35/350z exhaust note and accompanying 306hp is looking really attractive. the s2000 has been my dream car ever since i was a freshman in high school but i think i'd be hitting myself pretty hard when winter rolls around in the northeast and im stuck with a soft top convertible. the is350 would really be perfect i think. great standard features, entry level luxury as well as a great powerplant under the hood.
oh, the choices...
