335i coupe, s4, g37 ... choose the is350 b/c the interior and reliability (which is a big issue since I am a college student and can't waste my time away taking it to dealerships and whatnot)

My list that i test drove on the day i picked the IS out:

(this was in august of 2006 - they were all new models)
Accord
Civic
Camry
Matrix
Corolla
G35 sedan
TSX
IS250

Yeah, it's a big range of cars. I was sure what i wanted, but had the budget to move around if i choose to. Picked the IS

Used C32 AMG or new C55 AMG. I'm still in love with the C55 AMG, but in a way I'm glad I didn't get it.

hm...let me see..
-G37 Coupe 6MT
-BMW 335i coupe
-08 SLK
-RX8 6MT

but ended up getting an IS250..
yeah..all of my choices were 6MT because I used to own 07 G35 6MT
so I wanted to continue driving manual..
but since I was coming back to school..i decided to go with a car
that doesn't consume too much gas..LOL
and I wanted some luxury with some speed!!!

In Jan 2007 I test drove:
G35 (twice)
350z
rx8
tsx (twice)
TL
prius
A4
335i

If the G37 had been out, that would have made a much stronger case to me than the G35 (expecially in the fire engine red). TSX wasn't lux enough, TL seemed too.....ponderous. A4 and 3 series were too expensive in total cost to justify. Plus the 335i had just come out and I was getting quoted markups for it (boo!) The 350z was too harsh for a daily driver IMO. The RX8 hit a decent sweet spot between lux/sport with the Shinka package but I backed away due to the horrid mpg.

The IS250 was the best compromise.

RX is what I traded... 11 gallon tank + 20mpg babying it plus no trunk and rwd in WI.... tough to keep it, made it 2 winters here, that was it!!!!

Lots of the responses are the same exact reason why i'm leaning towards the IS350: reliability and pricing (compared to the 335 coupe). I've already test drove both, but it was on two separate days so it was hard for me to compare the cars. I'm probably going to try either this weekend or the following to put a day aside to drive both the 335 and the IS350 back to back and make my final decision on which one to go with.

I definitely appreciate all of your responses and think that the clublexus.com community is a great place to get information. thanks guys.

Okee Dokey Smoeky!!!! Those Mirages and old non-turbo eclipses love to burn oil and burn up engines, keep an eye on your oil level and keep the oil changed.

My BMW was a train wreck after a mere 18 months of ownership; it needed more servicing than a New York Governor.

That was a pretty smooth assertive statement!!! I have many buddies who dumped 3, 5 series and M3's due to this unreliability and having way too expensive service bills. One family friend had a 2006 3 series with 6k on it and had over $8k worth of warrenty work on it. Needless to say, she dumped it.

A few other questions for all you owners out there as well. 3 of them really

1. How well (clarity, volume, ease of use to activate, and road noise cancellation) does the bluetooth work with your phones?

2. Can you play/watch DVD movies with the Navigation package, or can it be hackable? If hackable, how tough is it to do for a COMPLETE amatuer.

3. I know the BMW, you can control your ipod through your car. Can the IS350 as well?
