even with those issues ive contemplated on getting sirius for my car now, cause its awesome. its pretty simple to obtain what you need. ie through sewell lexus and a adapater from vaistech at a discount at that

under 300 dollars for all the parts and i am pretty sure i saw some very well written diy's on the forum

what youll need from sewell
sirius tuner $200

radio fitting kit $100
http://www.lexus-parts.com/parts_detail.asp?id=87765

shark fin adapter kit , its optional, but if you have the sharkfin attena id go this route, instead of having the sirius satellite atenna randomnly on your car.
http://www.vaistech.com/

forgot to mention i think we still get 15% of at sewell lexus, the first to links. theres a promo code somewhere on the site

i just purchased all of the stuff needed for the sirius install: sirius tuner, radio fit kit from sewell and the shark fin adapter from vaistech. i also have everything mapped out and where i intend to mount the tuner. my only concern right now is, where do i access the shark fin at to connect the vaistech adapter?

and ill do a diy write up for sirius install.

ok so im new to my Lexus IS250.

I am a little dissapointed that the sales guy told me it was Sirius equipped...not that that would have stopped me from buying the car, but still, if you dont know, dont assume, and thats what im assuming he did =)

So, on my 08, i will have to buy, the tuner and radio kit and thats it?

$300?

Did you end up doing this DIY? How did it go and what were your findings?

So I have researched this and purchased all of the parts that I need and will be doing the install in a week or so when i have time.

Here are my findings...

1. What you will need

-- SC-C1 Sirius Tuner
-- TOY-C1 interface box

http://www.satelliteradioexperts.com...eos_p_444.html

-- Vaistech SFA12F (Shark fin adaptor)

http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1153

That's it!!

Total cost --> $220.00

You don't need the Sirius Fit Kit from Sewell or the Sirius tuner from them. They are so overpriced for this equipment. Also don't get the Vaistech interface box...way overpriced.

If there is enough interest...I will do a DIY for this install. Let me know if you all want to see one.

Does anyone know if the XM kit is newer hardware that can receive the "best of Sirius" programming?

I am a current Sirius sub, but I would have no problem switching to XM based on the easier, cheaper and more compatible XM install kit.

AFAIK all XM equipment can receive the best of sirius stuff, since it's broadcast on XM channels.

i just got that combo installed minus the sharkfin adapter which still needs to be installed. total cost so far was around 200 including installation. dealer quoted me 600-900 for sirius installed at dealership. only problem is the toyota/lexus/scion interface module is discontinued, i searched for a long time before finding one at a distribuitor. the universal tuner kit is avaiable everywhere.

Mike,

Seems like they are currently out of stock, thats a lot for the link, definitely big $ saver. A DIY would be great if you have the time!
