it seems as if there needs to be a little more understanding of what a clean sweep does. on many new cars, the headunit does not output any signal amplification or crossovers. it may send a balanced line, many at 5V, signal to the DSP amp in which all the processing is done. the output of the amp will have already crossed over the frequencies to the appropriate channels. when adding aftermarket speakers and an amplifier to power them, you need a full range signal to the input of the aftermarket amp. the only way to do this is to gather all the channels and sum them to reconstruct a full range signal. this is where the cleansweep comes into play.
as with the example of only adding a sub, you can grab the signal from the stock sub channel, as its probably crossed over around 80hz, for example.

RF's 3sixty.2 is nice but failed on me 2 years later...maybe the bass killed the 3sixty module but i never could get bluetooth connectivity again after it failed. pretty much made it worthless..

i think the clean sweep is a better option plus RF's 3sixty you could only connect via laptop or a palm device... no other OS support..which is weak!!

im going with the cleansweep on my IS.. only bummer is this unit does not balance the inputs auto like the 3sixity.2 i had...i guess you have to buy that other piece...

good info on the Cleansweep for our cars!! thx!!
