Brake TSB Question, Dealer gave me 2008 brake pads instead of dustless pads??? help
I've used the search button for the last 30 mins. I have an 06 is250 and I got my tsb done last week. I got it done for excessive brake dust. On my paperwork, it states the part number is:
04465-53040.
Everywhere I've looked, they have part number
04465-53030
Also looking at the L-BRoo2-06 tsb for the brake dust, they also should have performed tsb
43512-30310 correct??
My main concern is the part numbers on my paperwork is not the same as others and if I should also have gotten the other job done as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

from another search, i think i figured out the part they replaced is actually new brake pads from model year 2008 and not the actual tsb brake pads for reducing brake dust.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
If i am correct, i dont know how they can put on 2008 pads instead of the dustless pads.

BTW, 04465-53030 is the TSB brake pad for the IS250 and IS250 AWD. 04465-30400 is the TSB pad for the IS350.

The issue is that the IS350 has a different part number because they are not only different calipers on all 4 wheels, but different pads as well. The 08's have the same issue with brake dust and Toyota issues the TSIB as a customer courtesy due to complaints as to not entirly advertise this as it is not a safety issue rather appearance.

I think you missed my response, you received the new TSIB dustless pads, but you have a 250 (350 have dual piston calipers front and rear) like me, and the pad part number is different than the 350 thus the one digit differance in TSIB. Lexus does that to keep their numbers straight. No worries, I am sure you are all fine. 2006-2008 brake pad sizing is the same, just the composition of the pad is different.

Or you could decide that Lexus engineering knows what is best for performance and decide to keep the standard pads rather than put replacement pads on that may produce less dust, but may also compromise long term wear of the rotors. Your choice. Performance or image?? I'm staying with the performance that was engineered in. A two minute wipe with a towel solves any brake dust issue. No biggie.

This is also a very valid point also to consider. If you drive like igofast than stick with the regular dusty pads, if you drive like me *old man* than the dustless pads are an option.
ALSO... if you believe in karma *like me* than the stopping power of your brakes really doesnt matter, if your ment to get into an accident it will happen no matter what pads you use. For christians it would be that 'gods plan' thingy.

Well, you pretty much answered your own question in your first post. You said the dealership paperwork states that they replaced your front brake pads with 04465-53040. As stated earlier, those are NOT the TSB pads and your excessive dust issues will continue. The TSB pads are 04465-53030. I would take the car back to the dealer and have them install the correct pads, as stated in the TSB.

By the way, if you believe in karma, then the thought process would be more along the lines of "I screwed up in the past, and now I'm in an accident" (cause and effect). Karma shouldn't stop you from making an informed decision about your brake pads, nor should God's plan.

There is more dust on the front rims than the rear.
